Can Hydrotek send me their LEED certificate?
No company, including Hydrotek, can receive a “certification” by LEED™ or by the USGBC or bear the LEED logo. Only buildings are certified by the USGBC (or CaGBC in Canada). Selecting water and energy saving Hydrotek Faucets & Flush Valves products as new or replacement fittings can help plumbing engineers, building designers or operators earn LEED points toward a buildings LEED certification.
Hydrotek Sensor Faucet & Flush Valve Product LEED Qualification Guide
The Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED™) Green Building Rating System represents the US Green Building Council’s effort to provide a national standard for what constitutes a “green building”. Through its use as a design guideline and third party certification tool, it aims to improve occupant well being, environmental performance and economic returns of buildings using established innovative practices, standards and technologies.
Application for LEED credits starts with the architects and other building designers. Through the use of carefully calculated floor-plans, environmentally friendly building materials, energy efficient products and innovative system designs, buildings can obtain a high ranking LEED certification. That certification process can produce buildings that are not only great environments to be in, but will save energy and resources everyday that they are in use.
Numerous Hydrotek products can help earn credits for LEED Certification. By using Hydrotek products, water conservation and efficiency programs are significantly decreasing the use of water within buildings.
Hydrotek International, Inc. is striving to provide as many products as possible to enable architects to design as “green” as they can and to earn as many LEED points as possible.
Qualification for LEED Credits WE 3.1 and WE 3.2 Water Use Reduction
Credit 3.1 – Water use Reduction: 20%
Using Hydrotek products that are rated below the baseline fixture performance requirements as stated by the Energy Policy Act of 1992 would contribute to this credit as long as the building, as whole, reduces water consumption below the baseline by 20%. For example, the building uses all faucets with 0.5 gpm aerators and 0.5 gpf urinal flush valves would be eligible for this credit. For applicable products, see product pages.
Credit 3.2 – Water use Reduction 30%
Using Hydrotek products that are rated below the baseline fixture performance requirements as stated by the Energy Policy Act of 1992 would contribute to this credit as long as the building, as whole, reduces water consumption below the baseline by 30%. For example, the building uses all faucets with 0.5 gpm aerators and 0.5 gpf urinal flush valves would be eligible for this credit. For applicable products, see product pages.
Using Hydrotek Sensor Faucets & Flush Valve can contribute up to 2 points toward LEED Certification.
Hydrotek Sensor Faucets Reduce water usage up to 70%
According to recent studies, sensor faucets contribute to significant water savings. The independent studies state that up to 70% water savings can be achieved when comparing the gallons per visit of manual faucets versus sensor faucets:
Average gallons per visit for manual faucets equal 0.65 gallons while sensor faucets average 0.2 gallons per visit. Thus when coupled with water saving 0.5 GPM aerators, the potential water saving are dramatically increased.
