Buy American Act

The intent of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) is to simulate and reinvigorate our economy with new projects that put Americans back to work. According to the Buy American Act (BAA), products from designated countries (also known as TAA-compliant products) qualify as a part of the recovery package. These countries include the World Trade Organization Government Procurement Agreement countries. Taiwan acceded to the Agreement on Government Procurement (GPA) on July 15, 2009 and became the 41st covered economy. Under the WTO GPA, Taiwan is granted a “free trade partner” status under the Federal Acquisition Regulation (FAR), allowing companies selling to the U.S. Government to deliver products made in Taiwan.

On March 15, 2010, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB) offered amendments to the rules implementing the “Buy American” requirement of the ARRA of 2009, section 1605, allowing increased flexibility in delivering products from Canada and Taiwan under state or local construction projects funded by the Recovery Act.

Hydrotek’s highly efficient, water and energy saving plumbing products are designed, manufactured and assembled in Taiwan. All of them comply with the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) Buy American requirements.
